Glasgow Youth Film Festival  - Click for larger version Glasgow Youth Film Festival (7th – 15th February) is Scotland’s most exciting and innovative film festival for young audiences, featuring film premieres, inspiring workshops and special guests.

GYFF celebrates work made by and starring young people, chosen by our very own youth programming team. It is the only film festival in Scotland where young people are involved at all stages of festival production – from selecting the film line up to handling event management.

A BOY CALLED DAD

When he becomes a father at the tender age of 14, Robbie’s life quickly spirals out of control. Feeling neglected by his own dad, he kick-starts a series of events that will catapult him at great speed into adulthood.
After the screening the cast and crew will be answering questions from the audience. Please note this film contains strong language and adult themes.

SITA SINGS THE BLUES

A colourful and musical interpretation of the Ramayana legend set to the soulful jazz vocals of Annette Hanshaw. Beautiful Sita falls in love with the god Rama but is kidnapped by a jealous warrior. Highly inventive in its visual style, featuring a cast of flying monkeys, goddesses and evil monsters.

THE SCOUTING BOOK FOR BOYS

Best friends David and Emily love their carefree life on a coastal caravan park. When David learns that Emily is being forced to move away, he helps her hide out in a remote cave on the beach. But their innocent secret soon becomes complicated, as David watches the police close in on his missing friend. When the real reason Emily wants to escape comes to light, David's world is shattered. Swept up in a situation out of his control, and with his feelings for his best friend growing stranger by the day, David is forced to take action.

Thomas Turgoose (This is England, Sommerstown) and director Tom Harper (E4's Misfits) will join us for this Scottish premiere.

AN AUDIENCE WITH SKINS

Critically acclaimed drama Skins returns to E4 for more hedonistic teenage behaviour, now entering its fourth series. What has the show's influence been on television drama and youth audiences? And what is it like to work on an award winning series?


Special Feature: To celebrate its success, Skins writer Ben Schiffer and actor Joe Dempsie (Chris) visit GFT to discuss developing the show for young audiences. Get your questions at the ready!

Tickets are £3.50 for 12-19 year olds with valid proof of age (no further discount applies). All other film tickets are £7 (£6) with £1 off for GFT CineCard and Cineworld card holders.
